Balinese Story About Prajuru (Traditional Local Leader)

Prajuru (read it as pra:-ju:-ru:) are balinese traditional local leader. Usually prajuru lead in Banjar (read it as Ba:n-ja:r or local community) and Village. They consist of Penua (read it as pәnuә) or Kelihan Banjar (read it as kә-li:-hΛn bΛn-jΛr or the Chief) , Penyarikan (read it as pә-nyΛ-ri:-kΛn or the Secretary), (Treasurer), and Kelihan Tempekan (read it as kә-li:-hΛn tεm-pε-kΛn or the Division Chief). The prajuru usually helped by pecalang (read it as pә-cΛ-lΛng or Balinese traditional security). The pecalang itself have their own organization.
Prajuru are elected by the people to do several tasks such as leading traditional living and ceremonial event. Today, these tasks are hard-to-do due to many problems to solve in traditional living.
The picture below shows the photograph of Prajuru of Pekambingan community, i,e.: Banjar Pekambingan, Banjar Catur Panca and Banjar Pelita Sari and also the Pecalang named Pecalang Trijaga Mandala. The picture was taken at year 2005 when they open traditionally the outpost of Pecalang Trijaga Mandala in Jalan Diponegoro Denpasar Bali.
